Defending PSUAC Baseball Champs are back in action
Spring is right around the corner at Mont Alto which means the grass will be cut, the lines painted and the infield raked. It's time to play ball. Mont Alto Baseball is coming off a huge 2012 season after being named PSUAC Champions and making it to the USCAA National World Series. Both were first time accomplishments in the Mont Alto Baseball history.
Looking into 2013, the team is returning 10 players from last season and bringing in 11 more. The coaching staff is also all coming back from last year, Head Coach Merle Guyer, Assistant/Pitching Coach Marty Rosenberry and Outfield Coach Terry Clark. The team has expanded their schedule this year, playing ten PSUAC conference double headers and hosting four non-conference games.
Mont Alto will be on the radar in the PSUAC as the team to beat and Coach Guyer feels prepared for another successful season. "We have a great pitching staff this season as well as a solid core defensively. I feel we have a strong group of players with a ton of potential," Coach Guyer comments. "We also have several key players returning from last year that will bring experience and leadership to the team."
The team has the goal to keep the PSUAC Championship trophy at Mont Alto and plans to play competitive baseball again this season. Mont Alto hosts their first game against Elms College March 8th for a double-header starting at 2:00 p.m. The teams home conference opener will be on April 2nd facing Hazleton with the first pitch being thrown at 2:00 p.m.
