Miller scores 1,000th point, Beaver stays perfect in conference

Monaca, Pa--- Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) scored his 1,000th career point on a three-pointer from well beyond the arc as Beaver improved to 12-0 in the PSUAC on Friday night, beating PSU Brandywine 77-70 in a well played game by both sides. Brandywine took a lead in the first half and led by 7 at the half, 38-31. Brandywine extended that lead to 9 around the 17 minute mark of the second half but Beaver would answer and cut the deficit to only 1 with 3 minutes left. Beaver would then take the lead on a Chris Weathers (New Brighton, New Brighton) and-1 with 2:09 left, giving Beaver a 68-66 lead. After each team traded buckets, Mike Martin (Dublin OH, Dublin Jerome) hit a crucial three-pointer with 1:30 remaining, giving Beaver a 5 point lead that they would hold onto, giving them a 77-70 victory and extending their current win streak to five.

In the win, Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) scored a team high 20 points for Beaver while also grabbing 9 rebounds. Weathers added 15 points by going 7-8 from the field and Miller scored 14 points and also dished out 10 assists for his first double-double of the season. Julian Taylor (Rochester, Rochester) scored 9 points and Martin added 8 points for Beaver.

Beaver is now 15-3 overall and 12-0 in the PSUAC and will play again tomorrow when they host PSU Mont Alto at 3pm at the Beaver Fieldhouse.
