Softball: Lady Wildcats Score 36 Runs in Sweep of PSU Scranton

 

SCRANTON, Pa. – Freshman Katie Kratzer (Selinsgrove) was a perfect 8 for 8 with seven runs and RBI as the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team swept Penn State Scranton 15-2 and 21-2. The 36 runs in the doubleheader are the most scored by the Lady Wildcats. Junior Lacy Lose (Avis) and freshman Christina Mignot (Hughesville) each recorded a win. With the wins, the team is now 6-6 in conference and 8-18 overall.  

  

Lose pitched game one allowing two earned runs off of six hits with three strikeouts. She got the run support right away with Penn College putting up four runs in the first including a bases loaded double from freshman Rachael Shaeffer (Hampstead, Md.) for three RBI.  

 

The Lady Wildcats would go on to score in every inning bringing their total hits to 19 for the game. Shaeffer ended the game with five RBI, three runs and three hits. Krazter was 4 for 4 with three RBI and four runs.

 

Also for Penn College, freshman Alexandra Brennan (Saint Clair) had three hits with three runs and freshman Nicole Lo Furno (Glen Mills) had two jots with two RBI.

 

Lose started game two for the Lady Wildcats pitching a scoreless first inning with a strikeout. Mignot came in relief pitching a strong four innings allowing one earned run off of five hits and recording a career high 11 strikeouts.

 

Penn College again scored in all five innings starting off with five in the first. The team had 11 extra base hits. Sophomore Britni Fennell (Conyngham) had three doubles and totaled four hits with three RBI. Freshman Samantha Hill (Montgomery) had a team-high seven RBI in the game off of two hits.

 

The Lady Wildcats recorded 23 hits in the game. Brennan was 4 for 5 with two runs and an RBI while Lo Furno racked up three RBI off of three hits.

 

Next up, Penn College travels to PSU Schuylkill on Wednesday, April 24 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
