Wildcats Drop Opener of Susquehanna Tip-Off Tournament

 

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Junior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) notched 21 points and junior Casey Braun (Hughesville) added 13 as the Pennsylvania College of Technology lost 99-49 to Susquehanna University Saturday night at the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament.  The Lady Wildcats trailed the entire game in a strong offensive showing by Susquehanna.  They drop to 0-4 overall and will face Penn State - Altoona in the consolation game Sunday. 

Susquehanna (1-1) started off the game on an 8-0 run before a jumper from Braun ended the scoring streak.  The Crusaders built up the lead throughout the first half and went into the break up 55-23.  Steer scored 11 of Penn College's points in the half including going an impressive 9-10 (.900) from the line.

Susquehanna continued its strong offense in the second half scoring 44 points to the Wildcats' 26.

As a team, Penn College totaled 32 rebounds and was 21-37 (.568) from the charity stripe.  Steer led the team in rebounds (7) and free throw shooting (11-12).  Freshman Neisha Williams (Williamsport) pulled down six boards on the night.

The consolation game will being at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.
