Kendrick and Williams Add More Weekly Hardware; Bosco, Valentin and Waldrop Pick up First Awards

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Penn State Greater Allegheny Baseball

Penn State Greater Allegheny's Baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Penn State New Kensington to remain perfect in PSUAC play. In the victories, shortstop Duston Strom recorded his 100th career RBI and center Henry Dickmann recorded his 100th career hit. Greater Allegheny improved to 19-10 with the victories and remained undefeated (12-0) in conference play.

 

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK 6

Liv Waldrop, Penn State New Kensington

Fourth Year

Valencia, Pa.

Liv Waldrop's standout performance in the circle last week included throwing a complete game, allowing just one run through seven innings. The right hander issued only one walk while striking out seven batters. She had a 0.00 ERA during the week, and her nation’s-best 1.12 ERA leads both the PSUAC and the USCAA.

Terri Williams, Penn State Mont Alto 

Second Year

Chambersburg, Pa.

Outfielder Terri Williams hit .588 at the plate (10-for-17) and drove in nine runs during an undefeated, four-win conference week for Penn State Mont Alto. Six of Williams' 10 hits were for extra bases, and she reached base successfully 14 times in her 21 plate appearances for a .667 on-base percentage.

Right-handed pitcher Gabe Kendrick pitched six innings with six strikeouts and just two walks with a 3.00 ERA during his only appearance of the week. He allowed only five hits and two runs during Penn State Greater Allegheny’s victory.

Eric Valentin, Penn State Greater Allegheny

Third Year

Ponce, Puerto Rico

Junior first baseman Eric Valentin hit .692 during a four-game sweep against Penn State New Kensington. Valentin led the team with three home runs, nine hits and 10 RBI. He also scored seven runs while reaching base three out of every four times he stepped up to the plate. Four of Valentin's hits went for extra bases, helping him slug 1.462 on the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Damian Bosco, Penn State Greater Allegheny

First Year

Pittsburgh, Pa.

Damian Bosco played in four games during the week, scoring seven runs in 17 plate appearances. Bosco finished the week with a batting average of .308 and a slugging percentage of .462, cracking a triple and driving in five runs. He did not strike out and stole six bases in the four games.
