SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK 8

Kira Weikert, Penn State Mont Alto

Third Year

Fairfield, Pa.

Kira Weikert appeared in three games during the week, pitching for a total of 15 innings and only allowing 16 hits and four runs. She tossed two complete games and picked up two wins. On top of pitching, she also had two hits against Penn State Hazelton.

Keira Devor, Penn State Schuylkill

Third Year

Lewisberry, Pa.

Keira Devor went 10-for-13 (.769) with three homers in four games during the week as she helped Penn State Schuylkill win three of four. Devor drove in 11 runs and stole two bases as well. Schuylkill is 12-2 and tied atop the conference standings.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK 8

Travis Keister, Penn State DuBois

Third Year

Mahaffey, Pa.

Left-handed pitcher Travis Keister pitched 10 innings across two games for Penn State DuBois last week. In Tuesday’s game, the junior had 12 strikeouts in the 5-1 win over Penn State Shenango. In the final the innings pitched in a game against Penn State Beaver, Keister struck out all nine batters he faced. He recorded 21 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched during the week.

Roman Cieless, Penn State Schuylkill

Second Year

Morgantown, Pa.

Roman Cieless smacked his 100th career hit this past series against Bucks County Community College. Cieless had a .667 average going 10 for 15 at the plate with six RBI. He helped Penn State Schuylkill sweep the series against Bucks County CC. Cieless and his team will play May 1 against Penn State Beaver in the first round of the PSUAC Baseball Tournament.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Tyler Shuey, Penn State Schuylkill

First Year

Hamburg, Pa. 

Tyler Shuey was the ultimate two-way player during week for Penn State Schuylkill, pitching six innings and allowing just one unearned run. At the same time, Shuey was efficient offensively, going five for nine and scoring two runs and two RBI. His contributions helped lift Schuylkill to an undefeated week. In addition, he had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He has committed just two errors in conference play this season.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Penn State Fayette Baseball

The Penn State Fayette Baseball team finished the season strong, with six consecutive wins including four in conference action. In those four games, Fayette won by a combined score of 58-25, with two of the games shortened to six and five innings, respectively.
